Walter Hewitt have been engaged to source a highly skilled VP of HSE to join a growing international oil company in North Africa. This company have an exemplary exploration success rate and as a result of recent efforts are working on a fast track development project hoping to produce first gas over the next 12-18 months. Due to this increase in operational activity the company seek an experienced HSE Leader to progress the company’s HSE process to international standard and prepare the company to become a Gas Producer.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and form a key part of the company’s leadership team. Based in a family friendly North African City the candidate will be required to assess the company’s current systems and processes to benchmark against international standards. Once this is complete they will lead the team’s efforts ready the company for first gas whilst maintaining a close watch on both the company’s and suppliers work forces practice in the field.
Particular focus will be placed on the strategic elements of HSE building robust assurance processes and ensuring 100% compliance rate to international standards. Typical activities overseen in the field will include seismic operations, drilling, construction and a large logistical operation that will support all of the aforementioned.
The ideal candidate will have proven competence leading a corporate HSE function and have strong experience in the areas of Compliance and Assurance to international standards. They will bring with them experience from project work in North Africa where they will have overseen all safety aspects of field construction activities ideally for Gas plants in desert locations. French language skills will be a massive advantage and will help the successful candidate instruct the in-country team and field operations staff.
Candidates should be degree educated (Or equivalent Professional Qualification) in a relevant safety degree and carry with them the gravitas and ability to influence and drive change from the board room to the rig floor. Prior exposure to field and in-country conditions is essential as is the ability to build robust practices that function as well in field conditions as they would with corporate teams.
